PANDEF Decries Exclusion of Niger Delta from N3.9tn Road Projects

The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has criticised the Federal Executive Council’s approval of ₦3.9 trillion for road projects, saying the Niger Delta was largely left out of the allocation.

Speaking in Abuja, PANDEF National Chairman, Ambassador Godknows Igali, said only the Benue–Cross River Road connects to the South-South among the 26 projects approved across 15 states. He warned that the exclusion would worsen the region’s infrastructure challenges and economic development.

The group also decried the slow progress on the East-West Road and the neglect of key ports in Calabar, Onne, Port Harcourt, and Warri.

While commending President Bola Tinubu’s infrastructure drive, PANDEF urged the Federal Government to review the project distribution to ensure fairness and equitable development across all regions.
