Delta Police, Immigration Service Strengthen Partnership to Tackle Illegal Immigration, Insecurity
The Delta State Police Command and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) have agreed to deepen collaboration in efforts to tackle illegal immigration and other security concerns across the state.
The renewed partnership was announced when the Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Delta State Command, Christiana Solo-Akora, led members of her management team on a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, at the Police Command Headquarters in Asaba.
Discussions during the meeting centred on improving intelligence sharing, strengthening inter-agency cooperation and coordinating strategies to address security challenges, including identifying and flushing out illegal immigrants considered to pose security risks.
The Police Commissioner described the partnership as a critical component of proactive policing, noting that closer collaboration between security agencies would improve efforts to prevent crime and enhance public safety across the state.
He also acknowledged the role of the Nigeria Immigration Service in border management and national security, reaffirming the Police Command’s commitment to working closely with the agency and other security organisations to safeguard lives and property.
Both agencies expressed confidence that sustained cooperation, information sharing and coordinated operations would strengthen security responses and improve their ability to address emerging threats in Delta State.
