FG Declares Monday, Tuesday as Public Holidays for Eid-el-Fitr
The Federal Government has officially declared Monday and Tuesday as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, as announced by Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Ajani confirmed the holiday schedule, which aligns with the global observance of Eid-el-Fitr.
Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, extended his warm wishes to Muslims across the nation and encouraged them to uphold the values of self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace. He stressed the critical role of love, forgiveness, and solidarity in strengthening national unity, especially during this period of reflection and celebration.
In his message, the Minister also expressed hope that the blessings of the season would bring joy, success, and fulfillment to all, while urging Muslims to reflect on the values that make Eid a time of compassion and community.
Eid-el-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, and is celebrated after a month-long fasting period lasting 29 or 30 days.
