Okowa Mourns Otumara, Describes Him as Pillar of Delta Politics

Former Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, on Tuesday paid a condolence visit to the family of late Chief Dr. Joseph Sisanmi Otumara in Warri, describing his death as a huge loss to the state and the end of an era of dedicated public service.

Okowa praised Otumara as a trusted friend, political ally, and respected leader who contributed immensely to the development of Delta State through various leadership roles, including Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Commissioner, and Chairman of the Warri/Uvwie and Environs Development Commission.

He also recalled Otumara’s pivotal role as Director-General of his successful 2015 governorship campaign.

“We lost a great statesman, politician, and community leader. He was a good friend, calm, humane, and committed to the progress of our people. May his gentle soul rest in peace,” Okowa said.

The former governor met with the deceased’s widow, Mrs. Tina Otumara, and other family members, offering prayers and words of encouragement.

He urged the family to take solace in the enduring legacy of integrity, service, and leadership left behind by the late elder statesman.
