Hotel Manager Confesses to Murder of Missing POS Operator in Delta
A hotel manager in Delta State has confessed to the murder of 22-year-old Onoriode Bethel, a Point-of-Sale (POS) operator who went missing in December 2024. The confession came after an investigation by the Delta State Police, which has revealed shocking details surrounding her death.
The manager, identified as Iboirode, admitted to luring Bethel to the Century Home Hotel in Owehlogbo, under the false pretense of resolving a financial dispute. However, police investigations have uncovered that the motive for the murder was rooted in a personal vendetta. Bethel had previously accused Iboirode of using a fake bank alert to steal N10,000 from her account. Though the money was returned, Iboirode reportedly felt humiliated and retaliated violently.

Police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe confirmed that Bethel’s body was found buried on the hotel premises, stating, “The suspect murdered Bethel and buried her body in the hotel grounds.”
Iboirode’s wife also revealed disturbing details about the night of the murder. She stated that her husband had called Bethel to the hotel, and later told her that he had killed the young woman. “He came out around midnight and told me he had killed her,” she said.
Iboirode also used Bethel’s mobile phone to contact her father and demand a ransom. He also accessed her POS device to withdraw money after forcing her to provide the password.
Bethel, who was reported missing on December 13, 2024, was discovered following the March 2025 arrest of Iboirode and other hotel staff in connection to another murder. Pastor Sunday Ogofohta, a guest at the hotel, was killed in an unrelated incident, which led police to reopen the investigation into Bethel’s disappearance.
The Delta State Police have assured the public that the investigation is ongoing, with efforts focused on securing justice for both Bethel and Pastor Ogofohta.
