Alaka-Eyanvwien I Crowned 14th Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom
Olomu Kingdom in Delta State celebrated a historic occasion on Saturday, November 15, 2025, as HRM Albert Akpomudje, SAN, was crowned Alaka-Eyanvwien I, the 14th Ohworode of the ancient kingdom. The coronation, which coincided with the monarch’s birthday, began at Otorere, the kingdom’s ancestral headquarters, before moving to his palace at Akperhe-Olomu for a grand reception.
During the ceremony, the new king expressed gratitude to his people and pledged dedicated service, emphasizing his commitment to being a servant-leader and promoting progress within the kingdom. The crowning took place at Eyanvwien Hall by Olorogun Philip Korobor Atuduhor, Okpako r’ Illorogun, and was followed by consecration by Bishop (Dr.) Cyril Odutemu of the Anglican Communion, marked by 21 cannon shots to signal his ascent to the throne.
The coronation honored the symbolic significance of the monarch’s title, drawn from Eyanvwien, the first son of Alaka and co-founder of the kingdom. Following the ceremony, a motorcade led the monarch to Oviri-Olomu, headquarters of the Eyanvwien Ruling House, where 14 cannon shots honored the 14th Ohworode before he was received at his palace for celebrations.

The ceremony drew traditional rulers, prominent dignitaries, including Delta Central Senator Ede Dafinone, serving and retired judges, senior lawyers such as Chief Thompson Okpoko SAN and Chief (Dr.) Charles Edosomwan SAN, as well as business leaders and alumni associations. Bishop Odutemu stated that the coronation was important for both the church and kingdom, noting Alaka-Eyanwien I is the third Anglican king of Olomu.
